Family Medicine & Walk-in Clinic in Oakville has an opportunity for a Medical Assistant/Receptionist to support one Family Physician.

We are a full spectrum fast paced family practice servicing patients from newborns to the elderly. We are affiliated with medical schools and provide instruction and training to medical students at all stages of training.

You will join our caring, talented, and energetic team to play an essential role in providing quality support and patient-centered care. With a strong focus on patient care, we are committed to delivering exceptional support and care to patients. As a valuable member of the team, you will play an integral role in continuing and building on the success of the medical practice and Walk-in Clinic.

The ideal candidate will maintain a high level of professional appearance, friendly demeanor, and patience when dealing with patients. The Medical Assistant/Receptionist will report to the Family Physician.

Under the general direction of the Family Physician the Medical Assistant/Receptionist will perform the following functions:
• Ensure that the patient interface runs smoothly and is responsive to the urgent requirements that arise in a Medical and Walk-in Clinic.
• Greet and register patients in a respectful and friendly manner, and assist with their needs and inquiries.
• Book, reschedule, cancel patient appointments.
• Create/update patient charts.
• Verify/update patients’ demographics, health card numbers, email address, DOB.
• Answer phones: screen/triage incoming calls, retrieve and manage voice mails in timely manner, and responds to all inquiries (telephone, fax, email, apps)
• Escort patient to exam rooms, prepare room/patient, as required.
• Assist with patient vitals; blood pressure, temperature, etc.
• Book consults with specialists/DI tests, etc. on behalf of patients.
• Call patients/inform of specialist appointments and appt. details/preparation instructions
• Coordinate scheduled preventative care (flu, pap, mammograms, immunizations) letters/phone calls to patients.
• Manage patient’s confidential and personal health information while cultivating professional and positive relationships.
• Process patients’ accounts receivable and payable transactions (credit card, debit, cheque & cash payments), when required.
• Manage and resolve patients’ complaints in a professional and courteous manner.
• Order office and medical supplies ensuring appropriate inventory levels.
• Receive deliveries and re-stock inventory in supply cupboards.
• Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of common areas.
• Update Family Physician’s schedule (i.e., vacation, absence, etc.)
• 1 – 2 years of Medical Assistant/Receptionist experience
• MUST have strong knowledge and experience using Accuro Electronic Medical Records (EMR)
• Experience with flow coordination in a Medical and Walk-in Clinic setting.
• Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills with a passion for helping patients improve their health.
• Excellent interpersonal, time management, organizational, conflict resolution, and listening skills.
• Support and engage in positive work culture with shared core values of teamwork, empathy, friendliness, integrity, and inclusion.
• Punctual and reliable.
• Fluent in English
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada

Salary and Benefits / Why Join Us:
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent.
Shirt: Regular 8+ hour shifts, Monday to Friday.
Hourly: $18 - $23 (40 hours weekly)
Work Location: On-site in person.
